Privacy Policy

Updated August 18, 2026

Steel Company is a game published by Nick Emery. This policy describes what data the game, its online services, and this website collect, and how that data is used.

This website

The website has no accounts, sets no cookies, and runs no third-party analytics. Its servers keep standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time) that are deleted automatically after a limited period.

The gameplay video on the front page is embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube does not store information about your visit unless you play it. Playing it is covered by Google's privacy policy.

The game

Playing the game offline sends no data. Some features contact our servers: the launcher checks for updates, and the map import feature downloads map data. Those requests are logged the same way as website visits.

Multiplayer

Ranked multiplayer uses a game account. The service stores the callsign you choose, your match results and rating, and a sign-in token for each machine you sign in on. If you link them, it also stores your email address or your Steam ID. A linked email address is used only to send sign-in codes. Signing in through Steam sends a Steam authentication ticket to the service, which verifies it with Valve under Steam's privacy policy.

Hosting or joining an online game stores that game and its moves on our servers so play can continue across sessions, along with connection information used to run the service and limit abuse. Inactive games are deleted automatically after a limited period.

Crash reports and feedback

Crash reports and feedback are sent only when you choose to send them. A crash report contains technical details about the crash and anything you type into the report window. Feedback contains what you type and the game version. Both are deleted automatically after a limited period.

How data is used

Data is used to operate the game's online services, fix problems, and limit abuse. There is no advertising in the game or on the website, and personal data is not sold.

Sharing

Data is stored with hosting providers (currently Amazon Web Services) that process it on our behalf. Steam sign-in involves Valve as described above. Data may be disclosed if the law requires it. It is not otherwise shared.

Retention

Account data is kept while the account exists. Logs, crash reports, feedback, and inactive online games are deleted automatically after set periods.

Your choices

To ask what data is held about you, or to have your account and its data deleted, write to nickemery23@gmail.com.

Children

The game and website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

This policy may change as the game changes. The current version is always at this page.
